COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Video of a bear eating from a bird feeder prompted Colorado Parks and Wildlife’s Southeast Region to remind community members about bear safety Friday.
According to a post on social media, bird feeders can be about 8,000 calories for a bear. That might make the animal sick, but bears remember where they have found easy meals in the past and tend to return to those spots anyway.
CPW highlighted the impact of drought on the food supply, writing that reduced natural resources ends up “pushing black bears into neighborhoods in search of calories.”…
