Build-A-Bear issues recall for stuffed animals sold around the world

CINCINNATI (WKRC) – Build-A-Bear issued a recall for stuffed animals sold around the world for an issue that could pose “a risk of serious injury or death,” according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall for stuffed animals sold at Build-A-Bear because of an error that could cause the “zipper slider” on the plushie’s side pouch to detach, “posing a risk of serious injury or death from choking hazard to children.”

The specific product affected was the Build-A-Bear Workshop’s Heartwarming Hugs Bears. Roughly 36,000 bears were recalled, and the company advised that the product was only sold beginning in January 2026…
