Cooler May starts after record-hot April across Central Virginia

Va. (WSET) — April 2026 finished as one of the warmest months recorded in Central Virginia’s weather history.

The Lynchburg area recorded the fourth hottest April during the last 100 years. Roanoke observed the warmest, ranking number one for the hottest April on record. Danville finished with the third warmest April.

But May begins cooler. We’ll see highs in the 60s, 70s and occasionally 80s during the first two weeks of the month. I don’t see any signs of a Heat Wave…
