A 120-pound female black bear was relocated from a Colorado Springs neighborhood southeast of Palmer Park on Friday.
According to a post from Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) Southeast region, wildlife officers immobilized and relocated the bear. Then, they transported her two hours southwest of Colorado Springs and released her into appropriate habitat.
In an additional post, CPW wrote that the drought has reduced natural food sources across traditional bear habitat. This pushes bears into neighborhoods in search of food. So, it’s important to remove bird feeders, secure trash, bring pet food inside, and stay outside with pets…
