Marine poolees help disabled veterans with yard cleanup in Howell

HOWELL, Mich. (WILX) – Nearly 150,000 disabled veterans live in Michigan, according to 2024 data from the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics. Many of whom are unable to complete tasks they once could, including yard work.

Scott Brooks, a Howell resident and veteran, saw that his neighbors’ yard needed to be cleaned and knew he would need more hands.

“You got to take care of each other, and veterans, particularly, I have a soft spot for Marines,” Brooks said. “We take care of people, we’re not going to let them lag behind, especially when it’s something this simple.”…
