LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KATV) — May is here, and while Cinco de Mayo is right around the corner, Plaza Frida in Little Rock is getting the celebration going early with a twist.
Plaza Frida is hosting its “not Cinco de Mayo” event, a festival designed to celebrate culture and community without competing with locally owned Mexican restaurants during what organizers say is their biggest weekend of the year.
“So we call it Not Cinco de Mayo,” Jamie Taylor, Plaza Frida Coordinator said. “We hold it on any day, except for Cinco de Mayo, so that we don’t affect any of our locally owned Mexican restaurants who are celebrating their biggest weekend of the year.”…
