Sedgwick County Extension garden fair draws hundreds looking to grow food at home and cut grocery costs

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – Learning how to garden and potentially trim the grocery bill, is one reason Abigail Johnson and her mother put the Sedgwick County Extension garden fair on their calendar.

The free event was held Saturday and drew more than 200 people. This year’s theme was, “Lettuce help you grow: vegetables, fruits, flowers & more!”

“With food prices getting higher, we thought people would want to learn more about how to grow food at home in their own backyards,” an organizer said. “We’ve had a lot of people come in and ask, and we’re thankful that we’re covering this type of issue right now, because they’re wanting to grow more at home to save on their grocery bills later.”…
