Seems everyone gets stuck here. Now it’s finally getting fixed in SWFL

As Fort Myers Beach moves deeper into its long recovery from Hurricane Ian, the island’s most heavily traveled intersection is about to undergo a long‑awaited rebuild that government leaders promise will provide both immediate functionality and long‑term resilience.

Launching sooner than originally slated, Lee County’s transportation department and its contractor, DPI Experts LLC, will start permanent repairs Monday night, May 4 to the traffic signal at Old San Carlos and Estero boulevards, a spot where many of us have spent hours of our lifetimes waiting to reach the sand.
