Kayaker suffers life-threatening injuries after being separated from boat in Potomac River

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said the incident involved three men and unfolded near the Great Falls area. The group had self-rescued onto the Virginia shoreline.

First responders with the MCFRS and Fairfax County Fire and Rescue both reported to the scene around 2 p.m.

Of the three people who fell into the water, one of the men suffered life-threatening injuries and was unconscious at the time, Piringer said. The man was later resuscitated and transferred by boat to get medical care…
