Burt Marshall’s prison time means little compared to the $90 million his victims lost: ‘I thought he was my friend’
Victims of Madison County businessman Burt Marshall’s massive Ponzi scheme are cheering his guilty plea. But they say he should serve more time in prison. “I’m glad that justice has been done and that he’s at least having to pay for what he did to the dreams of many good people,” retired elementary school teacher George Cowen told syracuse.com | The Post-Standard. Marshall, 74, pleaded guilty in Madison County Court to second-degree grand larceny, securities fraud and scheming to defraud 988 investors in his so-called “8% fund.”
