Canoe capsizes near Lockwood; two rescued from Truckee River after being stranded

Two people were rescued from the Truckee River near Lockwood after their canoe capsized, leaving them stranded in the middle of the river.

Just after 12:09 p.m. Sunday, Sparks firefighters responded to a report of two people trapped in the center of the Truckee River. Sparks Fire Department sent three engines, one truck and a water rescue vehicle.

Crews found two civilians trapped on a rock in the middle of the river. Washoe County Search and Rescue and Truckee Meadows Fire Department also responded and assisted in the rescue.

Both civilians were retrieved safely, and no injuries were reported…
