CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – People rode into McIntire Skate Park Sunday afternoon for Charlottesville’s Family Bike Day.
The event featured bike activities, rides and resources. Organizers provided 150 free bike helmets for kids and learning opportunities to foster safe riding on city roads.
“We want people to drive less, less congestion on our roads, better environment,” said Tommy Safranek, Charlottesville bike and pedestrian coordinator. “So if we can start them young and get them to be competent and skilled bikers, then when they’re older, hopefully they’re going to choose that as an option rather than driving.”…
