Marchers trek 60 miles from Reading to Harrisburg to protest state lawmaker gifts

HARRISBURG, Pa. — A weekend stroll is often a way to relax, but for a group of Pennsylvanians, it became a four-day, roughly 60-mile journey aimed at sending a message to lawmakers in the state capital.

Members of the group “March on Harrisburg” set out from Reading on Thursday and made their way on foot to Harrisburg, calling attention to what they say is a lack of limits on gifts given to elected officials.

The marchers, led in part by organizer Jeff Keyser, protested Pennsylvania’s current laws, which allow lobbyists and special interests to give unlimited gifts and cover travel expenses for lawmakers…
