April began work on council’s most important responsibility – deciding how we spend your tax dollars. But first council had to establish the goals and priorities for 2026. This is an important step to ensure that money matches the goals.
The 45-page Strategic Plan is available on the web site, so I’ll just highlight the areas that I’m always asked about.
Important to everyone are the roads, and high urgency is given to fixing the 278 intersection at John Smith Road, widening 278 to exit 8, and getting the lights up on Argent Boulevard. By year’s end, we hope that there will be lights at the 278/Argent Boulevard intersection, Argent Boulevard at Sun City and at the Short Cut/Argent Boulevard (work is already in progress). We are also hopeful of having the light at 278 and John Smith by early 2027. The addition of this light and the one at Argent can then be timed for a proper and safe flow of traffic on 278…
