Missouri is teeming with scenic hiking trails and unique ecological features, but it can be intimidating to explore the outdoors alone. That can keep a lot of people from engaging with Missouri’s native forests, prairies and other natural environments. This sparked an idea for the founders of ShowMe Hikes, Jessie Donovan and Mike Roth. Roth told “St. Louis on the Air” that they knew they wanted to literally show nature to those curious about hiking in Missouri, but it was a matter of how to do it.
“I had the name ShowMe Hikes for a while, but I didn’t know if I wanted it to be a content creation engine on Instagram. I tried doing that a little bit, and I hated it,” he said. “I’m more communal in-person. I was like, ‘I would love to bring people out and show them where I’m at and engage with them out in nature.’ We’re there to literally show you what Missouri and the Ozarks have to offer in terms of our natural and human history, so that you feel a greater connection to the place that you call home.”
