Jesse Crenshaw, first Black representative from Fayette County, laid to rest

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Jesse Crenshaw, the first African American elected from Fayette County to serve in Kentucky’s House of Representatives, was laid to rest Monday. He was 79 years old.

Crenshaw served in many roles during his life. He was an attorney, a teacher at his alma mater Kentucky State University, a representative of the 77th District in the General Assembly and a Vietnam War veteran.

Loved ones, friends, fellow lawyers, judges and dignitaries attended Monday’s services for Crenshaw, who was from Metcalfe and Barren counties…
