State of Emergency in NJ as Massive Fire Ravages Community and Homes — Several buildings are still “actively involved” as of Monday am, according to authorities, despite the fact that a large, 12-alarm fire that started in an industrial sector of Belleville on Sunday has been confined.
About 3 p.m., the fire started on Cortlandt Street. At 347 Cortlandt Street, an industrial structure that housed a textile manufacturing company and mattress warehouse, firefighters could be seen gathering. Strong winds eventually caused the flames to spread to several other warehouses; multiple collapses were reported, and more building fires were observed a few blocks away.
It’s still unknown what started the fire…
