BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – People with outstanding warrants in Baton Rouge could be picked up and taken to court this week as part of an effort to address a major backlog of cases at city court.
More than 100,000 outstanding bench warrants exist for the Baton Rouge City Court. That is 15 times the national average for a city this size, according to a recent report.
“We have files along the wall. We may have a person with 20 warrants, and that’s a big file. We’ve had people with 40 warrants, and that’s a big file. We have to work it down,” said Constable Terrica Williams.
