With all the folks that love to get out into the Colorado outdoors for the beauty and for the exercise, it’s always a welcomed sight to see a new natural area and trail open. Loveland will see a combined 425 acres open in late 2026.
Where Is the Dakota-Skyline Natural Area in Loveland, Colorado
The Dakota-Skyline Natural Area, opening summer/fall of 2026, is technically two natural areas that are connected, stretching from Highway 34 to West 43rd in West Loveland. The main south (Skyline) trailhead is located right by Loveland’s famous, Jamoka Joe’s; the (future) east trailhead (Dakota) will be located off of Cascade Avenue.
Points of Interest, Animals to Be Aware of at Dakota-Skyline in Loveland
There is a 7.65-mile trail system for the entire area ( 3.93 miles for Skyline and 3.72 for Dakota) the Skyline Natural Area will have three points of interest: The Namaqua Star/Heart, the Hitching Post Overlook, and the New Ditch Crossing. There will be trails that are “Pedestrian Only,” and trails for bikes and such.
