Tracking midweek storm potential and flooding risk

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – For the first time in weeks, we are looking at beneficial rain heading our way with a chance for isolated strong storms Wednesday.

TUESDAY: Sunshine in the morning, then increasing clouds in the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 70s. It will be windy with gusts up to 25 mph in the afternoon. A few showers are possible by evening.

FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY WEDNESDAY: Cloudy and windy with scattered off and on showers and storms. There is a MARGINAL for a few severe storms with high wind or hail and heavy rain. Flood risk is low, but can’t be ruled out where the heaviest bands line up. Highs will be around 70 with southwest winds at 15-30 mph. Rain and storms will continue into Wednesday night.

THURSDAY: A few downpours could linger into the morning with gradual clearing late in the day. Highs will be in the 60s with lows in the 40s.
