A Halls kid’s triumphant return to the mound after battling leukemia

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Life can be like a deck of cards, and in the game of life, you must play with the hand you are dealt. But for Halls High School’s standout athlete Jaxton King, that hand included both talent and unexpected adversity.

King was a three-sport athlete, but he made his biggest impact on the baseball diamond.

“He was one of our best players,” Ryan Gentry, Halls’ baseball head coach, said. “As a sophomore, he was our top pitcher. When we had a do-or-die game in the tournament, he was who we threw.”…
