‘It’s amazing’: A closer look at the life-saving tech used in Fort Morgan water rescue

FORT MORGAN, Ala. (WALA) – What began as a day on the water quickly turned dangerous when two teenagers were pulled offshore by a strong current along the Gulf Coast.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened near Dune Drive in Fort Morgan, where authorities say the teens were floating in the Gulf when they were suddenly caught in a powerful current and carried farther from shore.

Deputies with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office responded, but instead of entering the water, they deployed a newly purchased, remote-controlled rescue flotation device known as a USAFE…
