Police ID man found dead of electrocution at Syracuse home

SYRACUSE N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Authorities have released the name of a man who died of an apparently accidental electrocution in the Southside last week.

Syracuse Police Department spokesperson Kieran Coffey said in a May 4 statement that first responders found the body of a 43-year-old man, now identified as Daniel Ignacio, after getting dispatched on Thursday, April 30, to the 200 block of Doctor Martin Luther King West for a report of a possible electrocution.

Investigators determined Ignacio, of Syracuse, accidentally hit power lines while painting a home with a boom lift, Coffey previously said, adding that the incident does not appear to be criminal in nature.

A Syracuse Fire Department spokesperson previously told NewsChannel 9 | LocalSYR.com that when crews arrived, a person was found in the basket of a hydraulic lift about 20 feet off the ground.
