Syracuse man faces felony charges after drugs found during investigation

BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Following a correctional investigation, at the Broome County correctional facility, an incarcerated Syracuse man faces multiple felony charges.

On April 29th, at the Broome County Correctional Facility, a correctional investigation was conducted by the Broome County Sheriff’s Corrections Investigation Unit, into potential contraband. According to officers’ fentanyl, heroin, and marijuana were found in the living quarters of Jean C. Benitez-Melendez of Syracuse.

On April 28th, a day prior to the investigation Benitez-Melendez was transported to the BCCF from Syracuse for a federal probation violation…
