Kitten rescued from storm drain in Jackson after dayslong effort

JACKSON – A kitten is safe after being rescued from a storm drain in Jackson following a dayslong effort involving the Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi and Jackson Water, according to the rescue.

The Animal Rescue Fund of Mississippi said it was contacted after people had spent three days trying unsuccessfully to free the kitten from the drain.

When rescuers arrived, they determined they needed additional help and called Jackson Water to assist with opening a nearby manhole.

The rescue said the kitten was trapped between the storm drain and the manhole in several inches of water and appeared frightened, cold, wet and dehydrated…
