Nebraska veterinarian shortage prompts state grants, calls for more support

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Nebraska is facing a critical shortage of veterinarians, especially in rural parts of the state.

A local horse ranch in Omaha hosted Nebraska senators and Gov. Jim Pillen at an event highlighting Nebraska’s history with horses and calling attention to the growing need.

Riders Mae Edwards and Maeve Curry love horses. They’ve been riding since they were little, and now it’s turned into a career path.

“When I grow up, I hope to be a veterinarian, so I can spend more time around them, and learn more about them,” Curry said…
