(Valley) — Cool, rainy weather the past few weeks have given way to the Bunsen burner in KMAland.
The National Weather Service says warning runs until 9 p.m. Tuesday for a good portion of southwest Iowa, and Douglas and Sarpy counties in Nebraska. Other parts of southeast Nebraska are under a heat advisory until 9 p.m. Tuesday. Another extreme heat warning is in effect until midnight Thursday for counties in northwest Missouri. Weather Service Meteorologist Amanda Wekesser (WE-kesser) says temperatures are expected in the mid 90s in most of the region, with heat index values up to 110. Wekesser says the heat is expected to remain in place the rest of the week.
“We do have the temperatures ongoing through Tuesday on into Wednesday,” said Wekesser. “Unfortunately, it looks like the heat’s going to be continuing through the rest of the week, and it looks like into the weekend, as well. It’s still about seven days out, but we are looking at maybe a brief cool down on Sunday, with temperatures falling back into the ’80s.”…
