(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — A storm system that has been closely tracked over the past several days is officially moving overhead today, bringing widespread moisture and cooler temperatures across Southern Colorado.
Early this morning, radar is already lighting up with snow showers, signaling the start of what will be the most active period of the day. Snowfall is expected to peak during the morning hours, including the morning commute, where those driving may encounter reduced visibility and slick road conditions. The intensity of the snow will vary depending on location, with some areas seeing brief bursts of heavier snowfall.
The highest snow totals are expected along the Palmer Divide, through Teller County, and across the higher terrain of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and Wet Mountains, including nearby valleys. These areas will likely see the most significant accumulations.
