SW Allen County quarry opposition ads pop up on social media

ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) – Efforts by a grassroots organization opposed to a proposed quarry in southwest Allen County have entered a new phase with a social media campaign.

The proposed quarry would be located off Homestead Road near the intersect I-69 and US 24.

The “No Quarry on Homestead” group leads the main propellant behind the quarry’s opposition. The group has hosted regular community and informational meetings since murmurs of the project started.

“I think it’s important that the people who live in the area who are concerned know that there is still very much a fight going on. Literally, you know, hundreds of concerned neighbors. We’ve got ten thousand signatures on our petition. There’s been over 200 people that have donated money to the cause,” Shawn McCarthy, a southwest Allen County resident helping spearhead the movement, said. “We want to make sure that the folks out there that are concerned about this realize just how big a movement we’ve got.”…
