Man charged after police officer injured in Montgomery Walmart incident

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A suspect is under arrest after allegedly causing serious injury to an off-duty police officer who was working security at a Montgomery Walmart, according to court filings.

Donovan Keontae Caldwell, 20, of Prattville, was arrested on a second-degree assault charge after a confrontation at the Walmart on Ann Street Tuesday morning.

Caldwell is accused of hitting the victim, a loss prevention officer who was off-duty from his job as an Alabama State University police officer, multiple times in the face after being stopped on suspicion of shoplifting around 11:35 a.m…
