NORTH PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — North Providence Mayor Charles Lombardi asked for a 7% tax levy increase in his proposed budget for fiscal year 2026-2027, which would cost the average homeowner about $500 for the year.
The mayor cites approximately $3.3 million in lost revenue from the sale of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital and the cost of the town’s new elementary schools, adding that the ask to taxpayers didn’t stem from financial mismanagement.
“Are we happy about it? No. Do we have a reason for it? Yes. It’s not a mismanagement situation,” he said.
