Constellation Brands, the wine and spirits company behind labels including Robert Mondavi and The Prisoner, plans to close a large winery south of Sonoma that once served as the headquarters of the Ravenswood brand.
The company, based in Rochester, New York, will lay off seven employees when it shuts down Quarry Lake Winery at 26200 Arnold Drive on June 25, according to a state regulatory notice dated April 24. The affected staff include five cellar workers, a mechanic and a foreman.
Constellation did not respond to a request for comment.
The closure comes amid broader consolidation across the wine industry, as producers including Jackson Family Wines and Gallo have recently shuttered facilities deemed unnecessary due to decreased demand…
