Controlled burn planned at Springfield Yardwaste Recycling Center

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The City of Springfield says there will be a controlled burn this week to clear storm debris at the Yardwaste Recycling Center (YRC) accumulated from last year’s Spring storms.

The Springfield Fire Department will lead a multi-agency operation for the controlled burn on the morning of Friday, May 8. The burn is expected to last from several hours to a few days based on weather conditions.

The City of Springfield strongly advises the public to stay away from the burn site during the controlled burn. They also say residents should be aware that smoke will be visible in the area and noticeable in nearby neighborhoods, and temporary traffic impacts on nearby roads are possible.
