COLUMBIA, S.C. — After a dry start to the week in the Midlands, showers and storms are expected to return as a cold front moves across the area. Periods of moderate to heavy rain are expected this evening into Thursday where severe weather will be possible.
A Weather Impact Alert is in effect for tonight into Thursday as storms may bring the risk of high winds and heavy rainfall that could lead to minor flooding.
The Storm Prediction Center has the Midlands under a marginal risk (level 1 out of 5) for severe storms tonight and Thursday. With the first storms arriving after sunset, this does keep the severe risk a little lower for the Midlands.
