The celebration of the partnership between Live! Casino Virginia and the city of Petersburg is something that has been well-documented, from the idea of bringing legalized gambling here being broached in November 2021, all the way through its grand opening last January.
Along the way, casino co-developer Cordish Companies launched a major television advertising campaign, from touting that a Las Vegas-style casino was “coming soon” to the current crop of commercials highlighting the excitement of playing slot machines and table games. But all throughout that campaign, there has been one glaring omission – any mention of Petersburg.
“Love your commercials, but they don’t say anything about Petersburg,” Vice Mayor Darrin Hill, whose Ward 2 is home to the casino, told casino General Manager Penny Parayo during her May 5 report to council on Live! Casino’s first 100 days in business…
