Otis Eddy house first of 12 picked for potential Rockford landmark status

ROCKFORD — A new group dedicated to saving Rockford’s historic structures has filed its first nomination for local landmark status.

The 150-year-old Otis Eddy house, a two-story grand Victorian home on the former Village Green property, was submitted by Marcus Walsh of Preservation Rockford on Tuesday. That’s the first step in a process that could add a layer of protection against demolishing the home. The proposal will go to the city’s Historic Preservation Commission later this summer before it is presented to City Council for a final vote. There’s no set timeline for those meetings yet…
