Two men charged following officer-involved shooting in McCully

HONOLULU (Island News) — Two men, ages 18 and 19, were charged in connection to an officer-involved shooting that happened in the McCully area on Monday.

At a Honolulu Police Department (HPD) press conference Monday evening, May 4, HPD Interim Chief Rade Vanic confirmed officers arrested two men, later identified as 18-year-old Kebit Fred and 19-year-old German Castillo, along Kapiolani Boulevard on suspicion of several offenses. They include attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, criminal property damage and resisting arrest.

Vanic said the suspects are believed to have been connected to two previous crimes. The first case involved a 2012 silver Mazda that was reported stolen in the Waipio area back on April 11. HPD reported that same stolen vehicle was used during a burglary in the Salt Lake area on April 30…
