TUSKEGEE, Ala. (WIAT) — The man accused of kidnapping a 19-year-old college student from a gas station in Auburn and murdering her will spend the rest of his life in prison.
On Thursday, Judge Tom Young sentenced Ibraheem Yazeed to life in prison for the death of Aniah Blanchard, whose body was found in the woods near Shorter on November 25, 2019. Blanchard, a Homewood native who was studying at Southern Union State Community College in Opelika, was last seen at a Chevron gas station in Auburn on October 23, 2019. Yazeed, who was then 29 years old, was seen at the same gas station at the exact same time as Blanchard.

By November 6, 2019, the Auburn Police Department had developed Yazeed as a suspect. He was arrested the next day by U.S. Marshals in Escambia County, Florida.
