Two men were arrested early Thursday after Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies say they recovered a stolen vehicle and a loaded handgun. North Patrol deputies spotted the car at about 3 a.m., then detained 45-year-old Marcus Wandick and 36-year-old Derwin Mulwee as the pair tried to walk away from the scene. The vehicle’s owner later recovered her car at the location, according to officials.
In a post on X from the Sacramento Sheriff, deputies said Wandick was driving the recovered vehicle and had the keys on him when they detained him. According to the same post, he also had a felony no-bail warrant for vehicle theft, along with several misdemeanor warrants.
Deputies said Mulwee tried to stash a backpack, which allegedly contained a loaded .38-caliber handgun and narcotics paraphernalia. The sheriff’s post notes that Mulwee is a convicted felon on felony probation, which means he is barred from having firearms and ammunition.
