Omaha silos near I-80 could be demolished for apartment complex

OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – Developers want to knock down most of the tall silos near 35th and Vinton streets, just off Interstate 80, and build hundreds of apartments.

The Omaha Planning Board gave the green light to more than $10 million in public TIF loans this week to fund about 20% of the project’s total estimated cost.

The plan would keep a few of the landmark silos intact — and add parking. Developers would also pave over what is now a gravel stretch of 34th Street.

Above-median rent prices expected

Living in this development could be pricey compared to the rest of the neighborhood…
