Rockford man pleads guilty to domestic battery after trying to intimidate victim before trial

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Cristian Burgos, 26, pleaded guilty to Aggravated Domestic Battery after attacking his victim and later attempting to coerce her into recanting her statement while he was jailed for the crime.

According to Winnebago County State’s Attorney J. Hanley, Rockford Police were called to a home on 8th Street on June 29, 2025, responding to a “domestic complaint.”

There, an injured woman told police that Burgos had pulled a door off its frame and attacked her, punching her multiple times and strangling her to the point she couldn’t breathe. Officers said the victim had visible injuries on her face and torso, and there was property damage at her home…
