Buffalo, N.Y. (WBEN) – The City of Buffalo is being sued by the owners of Templeton Landing. The California-based company is accusing the city of failing to follow through on a 22-year lease-to-own agreement. Business First reports Specialty Restaurants Corp. signed a deal with the city in 2003 to build a new restaurant on the site, then pay $60,000 every year while paying property taxes. The city was supposed to transfer the property to the company on September 30th of last year and wipe any liens. The lawsuit says that hasn’t happened yet. Specialty Restaurants wants the courts to force the city to transfer ownership and pay damages and the costs of lost business. Business First says Mayor Sean Ryan’s Office wasn’t prepared to comment when contacted.
