Columbia Housing Authority plans new affordable housing complex in Edgewood

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Columbia Housing Authority is moving forward with plans to build a new 24-unit affordable housing complex in Columbia’s Edgewood neighborhood, replacing aging apartments that were demolished over a year ago.

The development will be built on a vacant 1.4-acre lot along Slighs Avenue near C.A. Johnson High School. The property previously housed 24 affordable housing units before the buildings were torn down in 2024 due to deteriorating conditions.
