Buildings Demolished to Make Way for New Housing Downtown

Two buildings near the corner of Cleveland Avenue and Long Street are being demolished to make way for a 166-unit apartment complex.

Columbus State Community Partners, the nonprofit real estate arm of Columbus State Community College (CSCC), is working with locally-based affordable housing developer Woda Cooper Companies on the development, which is called Opportunity Pointe. First announced in 2024, it will consist of two five-story buildings that will share an outdoor amenity space and a small surface parking lot.

Removal of the two buildings – at 145 and 159 Cleveland Ave. – is expected to be complete by Friday, with construction scheduled to start soon after. CSCC officials have said that the $54 million project will be finished by the end of 2027…
