Massachusetts woman indicted with murder after deadly crash in Mount Sterling found competent to stand trial

MOUNT STERLING, Ky. (FOX 56) — The Massachusetts woman who was indicted in connection with an April 2025 crash in Mount Sterling that killed one person and hospitalized a 1-year-old child was found competent to stand trial on Monday.

On April 19, 2025, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said authorities responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Indian Mound and Winchester Road.

According to an arrest citation, Erica McColgan, 29, allegedly disregarded a traffic control device, hitting another vehicle in the intersection.

Court documents show that the other car had at least two people in it. One person was killed, and a 1-year-old child was taken to UK Hospital for a head injury…
