LINN COUNTY, Iowa (KCRG) – A train crash near Central City that seriously injured two people is raising new questions about railroad crossing safety in rural Iowa — specifically why some crossings only have basic warning signs while others have flashing lights and gates.
In the wake of the crash, some Linn County residents told TV9 they notice major differences between railroad crossings in rural areas compared to crossings in larger cities like Cedar Rapids — or even busier roads through Central City itself.
