A teenager reported missing from Tigard in March, who was previously reported missing from foster care in Eugene, was found dead of a fentanyl overdose on a stretch of the Eastbank Esplanade near southeast Salmon Street in Portland on May 4, according to the Portland Police Bureau.
While a medical examiner has yet to officially determine the cause and manner of death for Chayton Owings, 14, preliminary findings suggest he died from a fentanyl overdose, Portland police officials said.
“This is a heartbreaking outcome, especially given the victim’s age,” said PPB Chief Bob Day. “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones who are now facing an unimaginable loss. This case underscores the ongoing and very real dangers posed by illicit drugs in our community, particularly to young people.”…
