Dairy Queen is preparing to make a return to the North Shore.

The soft-serve-centric international fast-food chain will soon open at 414 Broadway in Lynn, heading back to the same street it once called home after more than three decades away.

The beloved brand, now a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, traces its origins back to 1940 in Joliet, Illinois, where entrepreneur John Freemont “J.F.” McCullough, his son Alex, and their friend Sherb Noble launched what would become a global dessert empire…
