DECATUR, Ala. — North Alabama’s rich musical history is now easier to explore thanks to a new self-guided tourism route highlighting iconic recording studios, live music venues, landmarks and cultural stops across the region.
The Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association has launched the Music Trail of North Alabama, a 24-stop itinerary spanning 16 counties that showcases everything from the legacy of Muscle Shoals to modern performance spaces. The trail is designed for both visitors and residents looking to experience the region’s deep music roots at their own pace.
Stops on the trail include legendary recording sites like FAME Studios and Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, along with the Renaissance Shoals Hotel & Spa, where guest rooms reflect the area’s musical heritage. Other featured locations include the Red Bay Museum, which honors country music star Tammy Wynette, Huntsville’s Orion Amphitheater and the Little Richard mural celebrating the artist’s ties to North Alabama…
