2nd Horry County splash pad closes due to drought

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Due to ongoing drought conditions across the area, Horry County Parks and Recreation has temporarily closed a Bucksport area splash pad.

The James R. Frazier Community Center splash pad, located at 1370 Bucksport Road, is temporarily closed. This is the second splash pad to recently close in response to the extreme drought conditions, the first being in Conway.

According to U.S. Drought Monitor maps released Thursday, the majority of Horry County is under extreme drought conditions.

“Warmer temperatures, higher humidity, and higher rain chances return this weekend,” News13 Meteorologist Hannah Rahner said Friday morning. “Showers will begin Saturday and continue on and off throughout the day.”…
